Welcome to my corner of the web!

I am Raphael Onuku, a Medicinal Chemist currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. My academic journey began at the University of Nigeria and led me to Taipei Medical University in Taiwan, after being awarded the MOE Taiwan Government Scholarship in 2021.

Together, let’s shape the future of medicine.

What fuels my passion? A relentless fascination with molecular science and its potential to transform healthcare. My expertise lies in computational modeling and simulations, particularly in the pursuit of anti-infective drug discovery. I specialize in:

  1. De novo ligand design: Crafting potential inhibitors for target enzymes.
  2. In silico molecular docking: Evaluating the conformations of potential inhibitors.
  3. Virtual high-throughput screening: Identifying promising ligands from various sources, including commercial and in-house libraries.

My mission is clear: to design and decipher the intricacies of small active molecules that can evolve into groundbreaking drugs. Utilizing innovative tools and advanced techniques in molecular simulations, I strive to tackle the complexities of biological systems associated with human diseases.

As I advance in my academic and research endeavors, I am keen to collaborate with forward-thinking pharma companies and researchers. If you are seeking a motivated, inventive, and knowledgeable collaborator in drug discovery and molecular simulations, I welcome the opportunity to connect and discuss how we can join forces to address the most pressing healthcare challenges of our time.
